chairman of mitt romney's campaign this year. he hosted a luncheon for big time republican bundlers. the audience was reince priebus who attended the meeting. it was his rnc who hired the firm ran by the improprieties to run the voter registration efforts in five swing states. when that firm, ran by that guy with the shady past was inevitably accused of doing shady things this year with voter registration, the republican party in all of those states had to fire the firm which ended voter registration in the final crucial week before the election. there was no plan b. thanks, reince. the republicans just had to give up registering voters in those states. maybe that came up in today's meeting. also potentially on the meeting today, the rnc field program, part of the ground effort that was just swamped this year. the republicans get out to vote technology crashed early on election day. one campaign telling the daily beast, everything about the system that was supposed to work actually failed. so these dozens of big-time republican donors meeting today to talk about what went wrong and reinc

, this plan leaves conservatives wanting. wanting what exactly? the declaration that mitt romney is actually president? wanting what? a pony? there's a conservative guy who didn't get his pony. let's add the pony. how are you happy? still not happy? this is a game. republicans put forward an offer in which they get everything they want. democrats get nothing, even though democrats won the election. then the republicans have the people on their own side squawk and complain as if what's just happened is such a compromise. they must be giving so much to be upsetting their own side so much. it's total bull puckey. it's fine. everybody knows they are doing this. but if you have been following the back and forth in washington over this negotiation, do not let anyone convince you that this part of it is anything but horse hooey. >>> your crazy uncle who watches fox news all day is worried about this. not the chrysler building, you can see in the middle of the picture. i have always been worried about that. it feels like a cross between a needle on a record player or on a syringe. but the b

that president obama knocked mitt romney out in this election? did they do this on purpose? we'll never know. but maybe louie gohmert can help us out. that's "the ed show." i'm ed schultz. "the rachel maddow show" starts right now. good evening, rachel. >>> we will know that is the case if we find some kind of mexican wrestling mask in the next pete souza photo from the last year in the former soviet republic of georgia, which to refresh your memory is here sort of wedged into a port of the world called eurasia, in his struggling young nation of georgia, a 75-year-old grandmother was out looking for scrap metal and she happened by some dark miracle she happened upon the cable that connects much of that region to the outside world. the cable that she found when she was looking for scrap metal happened to carry the internet. the whole internet service for that whole part of the world. and because this woman was poor and she thought the cable maybe contained some valuable copper that maybe she could sell, she cut that cable with a shovel. and with that one mighty thwack, that 75-year

heard the clip you played, mitt romney say, funneled money out of medicare. no, that is not true. we made medicare for รง beneficiaries better. of course, the republicans confused the voters. and you saw that seniors voted by, you know, i don't know what the president is, more for the republicans. their campaign of confusion actually did work. but, chris, i think i read differently the boehner letter about the structural changes that they want to make, meaning the voucher system. voucher care that they wanted to go back not only to raising the edge of medicare, but to turn it into a voucher program and turn it over back to the private insurance companies. a very unpopular, inefficient, bad idea that would cost seniors up to $6,000 more a year to pay for medicare benefits. >> one of the things i really like about the plan that you put together during the simpson/bowles commission, is that it questioned a lot of the underlying premises that guide the conversation we're having about fiscal policy right now. and i guess i want to ask you, given the fact that we have just thrown all

today act. >> 12 years after that. it appeared in mitt romney's plan. and that caught the eye of a politician. he said he he has demonstrated when he stepped into government that he could work in a difficult environment, take good ideas like private health insurance and apply them to the need to have everyone insured. they came up with the idea an alternative and they made it the law in massachusetts and got democrats to embrace it. for a think tank that is the dream. today both the foundation and the new president agree that the individual mandate is not just bad policy, it is terrible no good constitutional policy. their idea. now horrible and only judged that way until they began endorsing it. flip-flopping to try and make health care reform. i don't want to call it his job, but it is not shocking. it is what you do. but it is not what you do if you are a think tank. his ascension to the head of the foundation is both a perfect match and a disturbing one. they are where the politicians get their ideas and where the media figures look to get an informed take on whether something

stevenson? >> the republican party wants romney to go away. he only existed as a presidential candidate and possibility. there is not a lot of clamor for stuart to be involved in another presidential campaign. i feel sorry for him. you lose. it is a short, painful thing but it lasts a long time. >> bob shrum, good to have you. >>> in the wake of the 2010 midterm elections, a fight broke out in washington over what had been a routine piece of washington business. republicans threatened to vote to force the country to default on its loans. this he were not going to raise the debt ceiling, remember. president obama responded in a prime time address to the nation. he asked the american people to get involved in that fight he was having with the republicans. he asked the american people to get involved directly. >> the american people may have voted for divided government but they didn't vote for a dysfunctional government. so i'm asking you all to make your voice heard. if you want a balanced approach to reducing the deficit, let your member of congress know. if you believe we can
